We drove across Iowa to Winterset, the birthplace of John Wayne and the home of the Bridges of Madison County. We visited John Wayne's birthplace. He weighed 13 pounds when he was born and moved to another town in Iowa when he was three. We spent the rest of the day visiting the other 5 covered bridges in Madison County. The countryside is beautiful here with rolling hills, lots of trees and lots of cornfields!
