We had all decided to stay another day in White Springs, but come morning each of us was anxious to get underway! Gary & Verna wanted to pick up some fabric in St. Augustine, Harvey & Margaret wanted to pick up a generator and found one in Kissimmee, and we just wanted to go somewhere different and since we had never been to Kissimmee and it was on the way to Indiantown anyway, we decided to go along. Before we left we had a call from Mary saying that over 30 boats had fallen over in Indiantown, but Some Goode was OK. Unfortunately Harvey & Margaret's Waterlot has some minor damage and Gary & Verna's Slow Motion was one of the ones that fell over.
The interstate was full of trucks and RV's heading south, very few vehicles in comparison northbound. The state of Florida was letting vehicles go south on the expressway without paying the tolls which saved us over $10! The toll-takers were all smiling and waving us through. Thank you Florida.
We found our campground in Kissimmee, a very nice small park, (Ponderosa RV Park) got settled and went to the Camping World store for Harvey to pick up the generator. We were approached with the 'opportunity' of going to a 45 minute presentation in exchange for $50 to spend in Camping World. The first one was 10 oclock the next morning. We're not only campers but also cruisers, (read 'cheap') so not likely to pass up an offer like that!
Mike and I were thinking we might stay another day in Kissimmee, seeing that folks came here to spend entire vacations, but Harvey got another call about the damage to his boat and he is anxious to get there to take pictures for his insurance company, and Mary called to let us know that although there was still no power there was water, so we're headed for Indiantown tomorrow after all.
Note: Indiantown is now without power, we will continue our trip journal as soon as we can. Please check back!
