Gary and JoElla arrived yesterday afternoon and got settled in just down the road from us. Today we drove over to Corpus Christi and toured the USS Lexington, an aircraft carrier that has been anchored just off the beach and made into a museum. There are lots of exhibits covering all kinds of military events and history. The tours take you to all areas of the ship. We spent a lot of time below decks, in the living areas and in the engine room. There is an IMAX type theater on board and we enjoyed a fighter pilot movie. We then toured the deck with all the planes, the bridge and fore deck. What an excellent time we had on board this ship. We had planned to visit the Texas State Aquarium in the afternoon, but it was after 2pm when we finished the Lex, so the Aquarium will have to wait until another day.
We drove on into Corpus on the Shorline Drive and out on one of the "T"s to have a great seafood lunch. One of the Columbus ships, the Nina, is docked at this marina.
In the park where we stay, there is a country music jam every Thursday night. Of course, Gary and JoElla joined in. We enjoyed an evening of music and fell into bed about 11pm!
