This is our second update from our visit to Goldfield, Nevada. The first update covered the unusual Car Forest, this one is about the town and the awesome people we met. One of the joyful parts of our traveling by RV are all the incredible people we meet. Our visit to this tiny town was a fortunate stroke of serendipity. (see below) Everywhere we went we met friendly and helpful people. I was just sitting in the car in front of one of the stores and a lady came out and talked to me with brochures telling me not to miss the Santa Fe Saloon (1905). It is one of Goldfield's oldest continuously-operating businesses. Today, the Santa Fe, with its eight motel rooms, is still a popular oasis. It is also the longest operating saloon in the state of Nevada. She also told me about a full sized replica of Wyatt Earp in the saloon, it was cool seeing exactly what he looked like, along with a whole room full of awesome antiques from 1905.
After seeing the town and the saloon, Jerry decided to go inside another cool store and met another friendly man, they hit it off and even exchanged some gifts. He gave Jerry two glasses with Goldfield on them for our anniversary and a special coin, only a few were made for the town of Goldfield. He is also moving soon to a place near where we will be camping in the future, we are planning to meet up again. We had an awesome day and were so happy we took the time to visit this little town. We have had many visits like this in our nine years on the road, but this was so special I had to name it serendipity. :-) We will be heading to Vegas in the morning, check back later for more from Nevada.
