We left Palmer and drove on the Glenn Highway to a little town called Glennallen. The road on the way was horrible with tons of construction but the views were awesome. We stopped so many times for pictures it was hard to decide which ones to post. The Chugach Mountains are massive and so beautiful I don't have the proper words to describe them. I did try to capture them with my new zoom camera Vickie and Ed gave to us. Yes, they blessed us with that awesome camera Vickie used while visiting us in Alaska.
It sure came in handy today for zooming in on Matanuska Glacier and tons of gorgeous vistas on the way. We are staying at Tolsona Wilderness campground. We have a fast running creek behind us and the sound of water to sleep by. The owner said the water is way higher than usual and is more of a river than a creek at the moment. We are only staying one night. We would love to stay more but when you see the "bridge" we crossed to get in you will know why we won't take a chance on the water rising anymore. :-)
The campground is awesome with every site being on the water. We had a pull thru with our dining and living room windows facing the water. We had a nice fire and cooked chicken on the grill and just relaxed. The owner has a very nice antique display in the office where you check in. We had a nice visit with her and she said the campground and her homestead are all for sale. Asking price is 1.2 million and I am sure it's worth every penny. Our next stop will be Valdez. More later from Alaska.
