Back Home in Hannibal
Sep 8, 2011
|We awoke early. As a matter of fact it was only 4:00 AM so we went back to sleep. This time we did not wake up until 7:00, so it was time to hurry and get ready to go.
It was 8:25 when we rolled out of Deer Creek Valley RV Park.
Exactly one hour later we crossed into Missouri.
It was a beautiful day and it was only the wind which caused us some grief. The quartering tailwind when we began our trip today, turned into a quartering headwind about the time we crossed into Missouri, and our fuel mileage ended up being only 10.3 mpg for the day.
We arrived at the Mark Twain Cave Campground at 1:45 PM, exchanged hugs in greeting old friends, and were all set up and waiting for Jennifer and the grandkids by 3:30 PM.
We saw them arrive, the hugs and kisses were plentiful, and we enjoyed playing with the grandkids.
We walked to the playground and played with Colby and Lauren until we were all worn out.
Once Jennifer and the grandkids left for home, Marilyn fixed us a small, simple dinner and we settled in to watch the President’s speech.
We are tired after three days on the road and look forward to a good night of sleep tonight.
We have a lot to do starting tomorrow, in addition to giving lots of loving to those grandkids.
Life is Good!
