On the Road to Oakley, KS
Sep 6, 2011
|We were up early this morning, sipping our coffee while sitting in our recliners with the fireplace on to take the chill off.
Once the coffee was finished I wandered outdoors and began to lazily get things ready to go.
This was “Moving Day”.
Jesse & Ginger walked up and then Jackie & Tony and finally, Tony & Eileen. We sure will miss these good folks. In fact that is the reason we hate to leave. These are such good friends.
With, or maybe in spite of, the help of Tony, (LOL) we said our goodbyes with big hugs and pulled out of the resort at 8:05 AM.
Tony & Eileen followed behind for awhile and then took I-25 headed in a different direction than us.
It was exactly five hours later that we pulled in to High Plains Campground in Oakley, KS, and we were all set up, without unhooking, in 15 minutes.
We then walked over to the restaurant for a late lunch.
As I begin working on this journal entry we are sitting here in nice weather but with the bright sunshine and no shade, the A/C feels quite nice. In fact I think a nap might be in order.
We called Jennifer and talked to her for a bit. We miss her and just hearing her voice and knowing that we’ll be seeing her, Steve and those grandkids on Thursday, makes us feel happy.
Tomorrow we’ll be spending the night in Topeka and having dinner in the company of friends, John & Lori and maybe Sam & Rhonda.
Life is Good!
