ADVENTURES IN OUR AMERICAN DREAM travel blog

Downtown Portland

Heavy Traffic

Detours & Construction.....Yikes

After Portland, it was a beautiful drive :-)

We saw a lot of mountain streams

All set up

Look at the size of this place

We can't wait to see this full of snow. :-)

Last one!

We drove about 250 miles today from Cannon Beach to Bend, Oregon. We are planning to spend the winter here. We have always wanted to spend at least one winter in the snow. We might change our mind next year but we are going to do it at least once. :-)

The drive today was beautiful, except for a mistake taking the wrong exit. We ended up right in the middle of Portland. We had planned to go around the city. I am so glad Jerry has all the experience he does driving. There was a ton of traffic, plus detours etc. Yikes! We made it just fine but it was not fun. :-)

We are all set up with a HUGE site at Crown Villa RV Resort. This site is usually $1500 a month but we got a special winter rate of only $475 a month. It is awesome! We went to Walmart and got pipe insulation for the water hose and Jerry has it all taped up and ready for winter. We have also learned it's best to fill our in-house holding water tank and use it instead of keeping the hose attached. We go outside when it warms up and run more water and keep it as full as possible. We were also told not to leave our grey tank open. I am adding this information so others dealing with the cold can see what we have learned so far. Thanks a million to Fred & Jo Wishnie for the information.

We are expecting snow next week. Yeah!! More later from Central Oregon.
