Friday 16 August
Continued further north and dropped anchors (fore and aft) opposite Tournus, which is a lovely village with very impressive and diverse architecture and an abbey (which is celebrating is millennium).
Saturday 17 – 18 August
Long trip today and going through 2 locks we found a space on the pontoon at the village Seurre.
On the Sunday there was a bric-a-brac/ antiques market where there were stalls covering streets and streets around the riverside. It’s amazing what stuff people try to sell. The place was heaving.
Had a spectacular thunderstorm in the evening.
Monday 19 August
Left the pontoon mid morning. There was a fuel pontoon which proved convenient so we are now more or less fuelled up to reach Paris. As there will not be that many provisioning opportunities when we enter the canal proper we decided to go into the marina at Auxonne.
Wandered around the town (which is more or less a military base) which in the afternoon felt like a ghost town, and completed some provisioning.
Tuesday 20 August
After visiting the Intermarche again we left the marina for the canal proper.
Entered the Canal entre Champagne et Bourgogne before midday. Picked up our remote controls and we were off on our next leg of this adventure.
In the evening moored up along the canal in a very pretty rural spot surrounded by trees and wildlife. Great!.
