Joe and Ingrid's Alaska Trip travel blog

Last entry for tonight everyone. We left Jasper/Hinton KOA at 7:50 this morning-record time. By 8:00 we'd seen 2 coyotes crossing in front of us on Highway 40. Started our very bumpy through Switzer provincial park. Beautiful pine woods on both sides of the road-very dense. They've been cutting down trees along the road to widen the sight distances. At 8:30 we saw a female moose! Yea! She was just having a drink right near the road. We passed caribou crossing signs but never saw any. This is oil or natural gas territory , and passed a BIG coal strip mining operation.

City of Grand Prairie is definitely a gas/oil boom town. Tons of new homes and easy to pull into/out of gas stations.

We crossed into British Columbia around 1:10pm and thereby gained an hour. By the time we got to Dawson Creek we'd seen about 20 deer-mule and white tail.

We decided to stay only one night here. Took our pictures at Mile Post 0, went out to dinner and are now back at the trailer. Tough part is it doesn't get dark here until about 11:00. I've covered the bedroom windows with pillowcases to darken the room. I know it will be even later in AK. Colden is all messed up timewise. He's wanting everything an hour earlier than usual.

Well I promised to keep it short so this is it. Will get back to you when WIfi allows. Tomorrow Ft. Nelson. TAke care,

Love to you all,

Joe, Ingrid & Colden
