We finally found some whitefish! We ate at Goetz's Lockview Restaurant and enjoyed the mild whitefish delicacy - it tastes a lot like flounder. As we were finishing our meals almost on queue a freighter came into the locks just across the street! We went over for a closer view and were amazed at this engineering marvel. Unfortunately, I didn't bring the camera and have no photos until the next day when we only captured a tiny tour boat lock through from St. Mary's River (Lake Huron) up to Lake Superior (21 foot difference).

There is a fantastic Corp of Engineers visitor center where we learned lots about the locks. There are currently 4 locks w/plans to replace 2 of the older, smaller locks w/a modern lock the same size as Poe lock (110' wide, 1200' long and 32' deep).

We had a thunder storm on Sunday night that terrified Bonnie. Charlie thought he would have to peel her off of his leg the next morning!
