Entering Namche Bazaar

Today's trek is pretty tough. We go up and down, cross the river several times on these incredible bridges, then hike up a HUGE hill to Namche Bazaar (3440 m). Namche is a really big village. It's is the crossroads of several trails, one from Tibet, and there is trading and marketplaces here (hence the name Namche Bazaar). It is literally built on the side of a hill.

I have a bad cough from a cold I caught at the end of the Annapurna trek. I've started wearing a bandana to keep the dust out of my lungs. The hill was tough for me, and I had a slow pace, but made it up the hill.

We are starting to see several mountains. It's best in the morning when it's clear, then it clouds up in the afternoon.

I ran into Teresa, my roommate from the Annapurna trek. She only has time to do a 5-day trek instead of the whole Everest Base Camp. She is staying at the same teahouse as our group.

We are staying here 2 days for acclimatization. Tomorrow is supposed to be a rest day, but the hike sounds rather ambitious.
