Kiskatinaw curved bridge (original)

todays bears

6/15 Left Chetwynd and went to Dawson City, mile "0" of the Alaskan Highway. We got in town 2 days before 2 caravans are scheduled to arrive, however I think most are here already. We went to the Alaska Highway House to learn how and why the highway was built, got some pictures and toured the city. Naturally, we located THE STORE (Walmarts) and loaded up as this was the only one seen in the last 6 days. 6/16 Finds us starting year no. 46 together and starting the Alaskan highway, going to Fort Nelson. Detoured a little to see the original Kiskatinaw Bridge on the old Alaska Hwy. The original hwy has been restored and rerouted and you can still see parts of it from time to time. Tomorrow AM, we have to check on road conditions before going further. As you may have heard, there is a major wild fire northwest of here that has the highway closed down from time to time. Well over 100,000 acres have burned so far over 2 weeks, and still only about 15% contained.
