Got on the road (so to speak) at 8:10am. Decided to hook up the car just outside the Oasis RV Park. We parked close to another motor home and, when we tried to pull out around him, our motor home went left, but the car went right. Elaine had to steer the car until we managed to get the hitch locked properly so it would trail.
The highways are under construction in and around Las Vegas, so we knew that the GPS could not be trusted. The RV park said to go west for a couple of miles to enter I-15 eastbound. The trouble is, due to construction, there were no signs indicating which road to turn on. As a result, we missed the turn and ended up going through a casino parking lot to get turned around again. After that, it was off down the I-15.
First stop was in Littlefield, just before the Virgin River Gorge. We wanted to take the car off and drive it up the 12 mile hill by itself. Then we decided to get gas at St. George...the Flying J advertised 'RV friendly', so in we went. Only to find out that they were RV friendly for RV's of 25' or less. A tough time turning around, but we made it and hooked up the car.
Now we're off down the road for our planned stop at either Nephi or Provo, depending on how well we do. Decided to go on to Provo since the weather is good and is expected to deteriorate over the next couple of days. Got to Lakeside RV Park at around 5:30pm Mountain time (which means that we lost an hour for the time zone change).
Campground is nothing special, but is adequate for an overnight. Apparently there are lots of people who are camped here permanently, working in town I suppose.
Checked the map and we will try to make it beyond Dillon tomorrow.
