We're taking a year off to travel! travel blog

Sue, Don, John

We got up fairly early thanks to Trixie, so we had time for a couple cups of coffee in bed with the news, then went over to have a cup with Scar before we left. We were out of the campground by 9:30 and on the road by 10. The predicted wind did not materialize, so it was a beautiful day for traveling. We continued along Highway 20 to Idaho Falls, then picked up 26 all the way into Jackson. We met our friends outside of town so they could lead us into the national forest area they had picked out for us to camp. It turned out to be quite a ways out (we thought we were going all the way to Yellowstone!) but eventually they pulled off the road and we found our spot just past the gravel pit. We are dry camping for real this time, in a very pretty spot with lots of wildflowers and a breathtaking view of the Tetons.

After we got set up, partially settled in and shared a glass of wine, they took us out to eat at Dornans, one of their favorite places. We had some excellent pizza and good conversation on the upper deck with the Tetons in the background. Perfect!
