Wanderings and Side Trips travel blog

Thursday, July 5, we finished up our work at the Greeley Stampede, packed up our fifth wheel and headed south to Aurora, CO. After much discussion, we took E-470, a toll road, most of the way. Wes hates to drive on this highway with our fifth wheel because we have to pay a lot for all the axles. Last year at this time, we had our pickup, fifth wheel, my Tahoe with a small trailer and we went all the way around Denver on E-470. When we got the bill, it was $47.00!! I finally convinced him it would only be about half that much this year, since we were only going half way and I wasn't pulling a trailer this time. It should only be about $25.00. I think it is well worth it. It's a great highway with hardly any traffic. It is a pleasant drive out through the country and we can exit just a few blocks from our daughter's house.

We made good time and arrived at the Bubar home about 5pm - just in time for dinner. Most of Friday we spent helping get our grandson, Zack, all packed up for college. He wanted to go out to dinner, so we went to a new Japanese restaurant called Mt. Fuji. It was fun and the food was very good.

All too soon, it was Saturday morning and he was officially on his way. Mike and Suzy are driving him to BYU-Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho where he will attend a summer block and the fall semester of school. It is an exciting time in his life. It has been difficult for his parents and sister to let him go. Both of his parents and our daughter, Sunny, attended school there and so he is carrying on a tradition. It is a great school with a great spirit and we know he will do well.

We were all exhausted Saturday morning, so as soon as Zack and his parents left, Wes, Zoe and I went back to sleep. About 10 am, we got up and Wes packed up (again) and headed for home with the fifth wheel. I am staying here in Aurora with Zoe until her parents return from Idaho. We have plans to see lots of movies and remodel her bathroom. I will be going home on Wednesday.

Once again, we are grateful to be retired, so that we can help out our family with house sitting, dog sitting, etc. And to be able to be there for important milestones such as this one.
