We have been planing to check out the San Diego Trolley since we got here. We decided today was the day. We drove over to the Santee Trolley Center, about two miles from our campground, and got our tickets. You pay $5 for an all day ticket and you can get on and off as many times as you like. You park your car in the mall and don't have to pay any fees for parking. It is a great deal and we were really impressed with the service.
We took what they call the green route to visit Old Town San Diego. Old Town is considered the birthplace of San Diego. It is rich with history. The State Historic Park preserves some of Old Town’s most historic buildings, California’s first schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, a stable, and the state’s first newspaper office, museums and more, all for free. Old Town is full of artisans, galleries, restaurants and shops, many of which celebrate and commemorate what life was like there in the 1800s. We enjoyed it so much we will definitely be going back for more. More later from San Diego.
