The perfect funnel cake

and the perfect truck

the rear view - lots of possibilities

It is good to be home! After we finished working at Greeley, we drove the short distance to our daughter's house in Aurora. We spent a couple of days there with our grandson before he left for college. On Saturday, Wes came on home with the fifth wheel and I stayed with our grandaughter, Zoe while Suzy and Mike took Zack to school. Boy, are we tired!! Zoe and I cleaned and redecorated her bathroom. Of course, that entailed a lot of shopping for just the right towels, rugs, and accessories :-) I keep telling Wes that shopping is hard work! He doesn't understand it! We also took the opportunity to see a few movies and go out to lunch and dinner. We had a great time together. I think Zoe was as tired as I was when I left Wednesday morning. But the bathroom looks great and when Wes and I go back in September, we will do some repair work and paint.

I have been shopping for a new camera and finally made a decision. It will be the Nikon D40X. Now I just have to save the money for it. I love my Olympus, but I have noticed that my photos are just not quite as good as I would like. It does have a zoom feature, but not enough. There are many closeups I would like to have, but just can't get them. In my pre-digital life, I had a couple of 35mm cameras with all kinds of lenses. I hope to be able to accomplish the same thing with this new camera AND have the convenience of digital. I will let you know how it goes.

We missed wheat harvest, but it was a fantastic event! Every once in a while, all the planets and stars line up and God sees fit to answer the prayers of the farmers and the wheat harvest is perfect. That is what happened this year. With the moisture of this past winter, the wheat has produced large yields. We did not have any "rain days" or damaging hail. The unfortunate problems with the wheat crops in Oklahoma and Texas have kept the price up. So - as many have said - it is a "once in a lifetime" harvest. Everyone is happy. Most will have some extra money in their pockets. The mood in town is upbeat and positive again. It's great to be a farmer today!

We have decided we need a different truck, so did some truck shopping while we were in Greeley. We found the "close to" perfect truck and Wes even went in the office and talked to the salesman about it. (That means he is serious). The last time he went into the office and talked to a salesman, we bought our Montana. I really think we can find a good used truck that will work for us until we trade for a motorhome. We will be looking around in the Wichita area next week.

We have been mowing and watering the lawn and trees. Tuesday we head east to our daughter Sunny's house for our Taylor Cousins Reunion. It is our family's turn to host the reunion this year. We will begin on Saturday with a pancake breakfast and family group photos at Sunny and Brians house. Then we will move to a Bed and Breakfast in Lindsborg for the remainder of the weekend. So far, we are expecting 45 cousins to show up. I will be posting photos etc. on that event later on.

It's good to be home again. If you are in the area, stop by for a visit.
