Sunny and Brian look tired

On July 17, we headed east to our daughter, Sunny's house. We painted the fence, mowed the yard and farm, prepared food, shopped for decorations, picked up tables and chairs and a lot of other pre-reunion chores. It was HOT and HUMID!! About 50 cousins and their families gathered at the Milleson farm on Saturday, July 21. We had a good pancake breakfast and everyone cooperated with the family photos. Everyone visited and toured Sunny and Brian's house and farm. About noon, we headed into Lindsborg, KS about 7 miles away. We got everyone checked into the Inn and started on the first trolley tour. Others shopped and then they all switched about 3:30 pm for the second trolley tour. At 5:00 pm we all traveled in a convoy to Smolan, a small town north of Lindsborg. The school house there has been turned into an excellent restaurant. The school is two stories. As you go in the front door, there is a small landing where you check in. You then can go down to the gym to the public restaurant or upstairs to the private dining rooms. Our group had been assigned to the study hall. It was great! Just like we were having dinner in our old high school study hall. Books and pictures etc. were all still there. The food was excellent and the service was too. It was an all-you-can eat buffet. We were all well-fed. As we left, the kids noticed the playground equipment, so a lot of the group stayed and played on the swings etc. Back at the Inn, we put out snacks and played games and just visited and got reacquainted. We had enough people to fill the whole Inn and so they just turned the place over to us. I cannot say enough about this excellent Bed and Breakfast. The service was great and so was the food. The accomodations were wonderful and very clean. Also, the AC was nice and cold.

Sunday morning we were served a Swedish breakfast. It was excellent. Everyone went home happy and satisfied. The next reunion will be hosted by the Foos family in 2009. We are looking forward to that. Ronnie hinted that it might be a "working cowboy" reunion. I wonder how many of us can actually ride a horse!

Suzy and Zoe left for home Monday morning and Wes and I spent the rest of the week there. We had dentist and doctor appointments and we were looking for a new truck or a motorhome. We did not find what we wanted, but we have eliminated some of the places we wanted to check out.

We arrived back home on Friday afternoon and jumped right into the county fair preparations. More on that next time.
