Last one!

When we arrived at Calico Ghost Town, we received a brochure telling us about all the special places nearby. They recommended a visit to Peggy Sue's Diner, about three miles from the campground. I am glad we noticed this one, it was one of the neatest restaurants we have visited. It is located along the Historic Route 66.

It is advertised as a wonderful blast from the past, and it was. :-) Peggy Sue, a Hollywood starlet, boasting over 100 movies and commercials, left the limelight for a simpler life opening in 1954 a little diner in Yermo. Though she left Hollywood, Hollywood didn't leave her. Movie star friends that she worked with came to visit her here and are now a part of this restaurant's history with an impressive collection of signed photographs and newspaper articles on the walls. Hollywood whimsy is everywhere.

Jerry had the Peggy Sue special which is a regular hamburger with sliced tomato, onion and mayo. I had the Marlon Brando mushroom and cheese burger. After lunch we visited the gift shop. It was loaded with memorabilia, my favorites were the Elvis purses.

This will be our last post from California. We are heading to Vegas to visit family. More later from Nevada.
