Waiting to start City to Surf in the rain

Just getting started, 11kms to go and it's pouring

We were supposed to help with pushing but Rosalee insisted on walking

City to Surf is a major fun run/ walk that takes place annually in most major Australian cities.

Nikki, Marianne and I volunteered through work to assist the Cerebal Palsy Association's entrants in the 11km wheelchair race. We set a fair pace and finished in 2h20mins (the winning runner made it in 36mins). Our concerns about making it up the hills along the way were largely unfounded but momentum on the downward slope was a bit of a problem. We all had very sore arms from trying not to takeout the ankles of the crowds of entrants (25,000 turned up on the day despite the rain).

The sun made an appearance by the time we were closing in on the finish line and we were rewarded with competitors medals and a picnic of Chicken Treat (Aussie takeaway)

Day 183 complete
