TUESDAY AFTERNOON, JULY 25

Around 11:00 I drove into Gallup, where I visited the Gallup Cultural Center, which is operated by the Southwest Indian Foundation. It includes the Navajo Code Talkers Museum. The building was formerly the railway station and Harvey House. There I saw a very interesting film about the cultures of the inhabitants of the southwest region in ancient times. I have seen many of the places mentioned in the film and am planning to visit some of the others. The Center also has a fine collection of pottery, kachinas, jewelry, paintings and baskets. They were preparing for the 85th Annual Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial.

By the time I completed my visit here, it was time to check into the USA RV Park, my home for the night. It is "100% American Owned on Historic Route 66" as their advertising proclaims. It is run by veterans.
