Today we visited the Kern River Preserve for the Hummingbird Audubon Festival. During peak migration in late July and early August the Kern River Valley is visited by thousands of migrating hummingbirds each day.

Volunteers with the Kern River Preserve fill hummingbird feeders each morning to the delight of visitors. Kern River Valley is known as the Hummingbird Capitol of California. We were very lucky to be close enough to visit during the 11th Annual Hummingbird Celebration on August 1, 2009 at the Kern River Preserve.

I am adding a few pictures to show you what we saw. It was quite amazing, they were all around the feeders. They had music for entertainment while all the bird lovers watched for hours. We all had a great time. More later from California.
