Today was an absolutely perfect day. It started off chilly this morning and it never did get over about 72 degrees all day. The sky was a beautiful blue. All in all, it was a perfect day for nature photography.
I was up at 5:00, something practically unheard of for me since leaving the cold cruel workaday world. By 6:15 I was on the road intent on doing some serious wildflower stalking on the Willow City Loop (north of Fredericksburg). And what a day it was! The willingness of the ranchers along that road to allow people to enjoy the beauty of their land is such a wonderful contribution to nature lovers. All they ask is that we stay on the road and watch for loose livestock.
As the morning progressed, I saw more and more people and had some pleasant conversations with several of them: three motorcyclists from Bandera, a New Mexico resident in a small motorhome who used to live in Kerrville, a lady from Missouri who was at a religious retreat with her minister husband and two women doing oil painting.
It took me over two hours to do the loop because there were so many photos that just HAD to be taken. I ended up with 129 "keepers". On the way to Fredericksburg I was excited to see so many flowers along Highway 16. There aren't many places to pull over for taking pictures, though.
In Fredericksburg I went to a leather store to look at purses but none of them grabbed me. I fed Sweet Pea and then stopped for a burger to feed the growling beast in my stomach. Before leaving town, i went to the visitor center to get some brochures and maps. I was back home around 3:30.
