Today Cousin Lullene Knox from the Huntsville area came by to get me. She had arrived yesterday too late to get together then.
We went to Fredericksburg, arriving in time for lunch with other cousins, Dick and Maxie Hoester and their son, Rick. We met them at Dick and Rick's law office and we all rode together in their car to the Peach Tree Restaurant. We had a very nice visit. Lullene and Maxie are first cousins and I am a distant fourth cousin to them. More important to me than the fact that we all are twigs on the same big family tree is that we are friends. It's always good to see them.
After lunch Lullene and I went wildflower peeping and had a very rewarding afternoon. The closer to Llano on TX 16, the more wildflowers there were (mostly bluebonnets). We stopped at a couple of historic markers to take photos because there just aren't very many other places to stop. Once we got onto FM 2323 it was better. For one thing, there was much less traffic.
One of my favorite vistas is wildflowers on a hillside or embankment. That provides a greater impact.
When we first started on this little trip, it was cloudy so we were concerned about the quality of light for my photos. By noon, though, it had cleared. The temperature was mild and there was very little wind. Everything looked so fresh and green. Another perfect day!!
When we got back to Austin, we took some clothes to Lullene's grandson, who is a University of Texas student. By then it was time for dinner. We went to Romeo's Italian Restaurant, which is next door to Pecan Grove RV Park. We both enjoyed our dinners.
