01 Feb. 8, 2019 Azamara Boarding and departure
We just kept low on the day before departure and Anne recovered from her queazy tummy. We were all ready to leave at 9:45 AM and boarded the van that Markus (an Azamara frequenter we we had net on another cruise) had arranged. The luggage just fit and we were off to San Antonio - about an hour ride from Santiago.
We did not need to wait too long before the check-in and boarding process began. After lunch in Windows Cafe, we were told our stateroom was ready. A little later our luggage arrived and we began to settle in. However we needed a repair for the built-in USB charging outlets. Two crewmen did the job in jig time!
Soon after the mandatory lifeboat drill, we did the sail away out through the narrow harbor entrance. The sea was about three meters with crashing waves on the shore as we headed out into the Pacific.
Our first day came to a close with a delicious dinner followed by a terrific sunset. Tomorrow we will recover from the previous week as we travel south by sea.
