We made our way north with stops in Grande Prairie, Alberta and then Dawson Creek, BC. Did a little RV and tire repair and then went over to Chetwynd, BC. We met with a friend that we had met through my sister, Vicki. Shirley, who is a native of Chetwynd was our tour guide and hostess.
Chetywynd is a real neat little town of about 3000. Their claim to fame is an annual Chainsaw Carving Event which hosts the best carvers in the world. They are incredible. If you are interested in learning more, I am sure you will find more information about the event on the internet. I would like to post more pictures of the carvings, but I did attach a sample of their work.
We toured around the town and then went out to dinner. It was Canada Day, so unfortunately, Chetwynd was closed. We did find a Pub open and had a nice dinner with Shirley. We didn't want to wear out our welcome, so we were back on the road in a couple of days. Joey did however have time to bag a wolf and a bear, both in Shirley's living room.
Thanks so much Shirley for a great time.
