Another great day was promised with super weather and no wind. What a nice day to ride out of the mountains thru the foothills and into the prairie.
Sheila arrived at the camp at 7:30, delivered by the lovely Rita, her Mom and brought some fabulous muffins to start our day. Sheila is a wonderful athlete and riding with her was fun but a real challenge as she blow us away on the hills. So she got lots of rest waiting for us to catch up. The first 100 k was pretty good, kind of easy riding to Cochrane where we stopped for lunch where we met my niece, Sue and her husband Michael Kallis. They were kind enough to first bring us some great cookies and then bought us lunch.
On route to Airdrie an old, and I do mean “old” friend, John Papp, saw us as he rode by on his Hog. Didn’t even stop to offer us a drink the old fart!
Then the fun began! Up the Cochrane hill on highway 22 to route 567. This turned out to be 50 k of real challenge as some of the hills of the foothills where very long and hard with up to an 11% grade. Still in all we made camp in Airdrie in good time at 4:30. Rita picked up Sheila and we set up camp and had dinner. I still can’t believe how much we eat but the body does need fuel.
