Yellowstone and Mount Rushmore Summer 2010 travel blog

First we watched the fireworks last night from the campground. We took the folding chairs out to the front lawn area and had a great view of the evenings show. It evening was cold and we did have jackets but still it was cold. After returning back to the trailer we watched a little TV and off to bed.

We decided to stay in town. We went to a local museum about the area of West Yellowstone. There were three basic subjects on display. First area was dedicated to transportation. Opening of the local airport and the planes that serviced the area. On the same subject ground transportation to the area from horse and carriages, touring buses. Lastly, the fires. Next, was the big earthquake that killed a number of people north or the city. Finely, a movie on the 1988 fires that blackened most of the park. I have talked a lot about the signs of fire in the park.

After our visit to the museum we had two more stops to make. The store to pick up some milk and ice. Then to get a little fuel for the trip to Billings and back to the trailer. Tonight I will take Debi out to dinner within walking distance.

Tomorrow will be moving day to Billings. The drive should take 4 to 4 1/2 hours.
