Canterbury Countryside

Akaroa Harbor

Downtown Christchurch

Christchurch is New Zealand's second largest city with 390,000 people. Only Auckland is larger, and it is the largest city on the south island. The Avon River flows through downtown Christchurch giving it a beautiful English aire. There are Gothic cathedrals, colorful cottage gardens, blowling lawns, all with an old-world ambience. About 50 miles up the road from Christchurch is the quaint little harbor town of Akaroa in the heart of Canterbury. Many colorful yachts and sailboats dot the beautiful blue waters as tourists stroll down the sidewalk taking in the many opportunities to grab some of the region's world famous fish 'n chips. Outside of Akaroa, there is a workingt farm, Manderley, where the farmer shows off his well trained sheep dogs and the wife serves up delicious shortbread cookies, homemade muffins, and morning or afternoon tea. Back on board, everyone enjoys sharing their day's experiences.
