The Bouchers at Home on the Road travel blog

Friday 1July06 Newberry, MIv

Arrived here, at the KOA on Route 38 in the Upper Peninsula, about 6PM. There was no room at the Inn, so we paid a hefty $26 to stay in the field without utilities. Except for the price, we liked the field, since we weren't near anyone. Dry camping (no utilities) is only $2.50 or so at the Escapee's parks. No wonder Camp WalMart looks so good to people for a quick overnight stay!

We made an easy border crossing in Sault Sainte Marie, although the border guard looked askance at Nizhoni, who was all loud noise and big fangs because the guard was standing in the open door and very near to me (which she didn't like). Richard was holding on to her, which was necessary, but not a good idea to Nizhoni (who felt that R. didn't appreciate the terrible danger that I was in). After sizing her up for a few minutes, the guard told her, "NEIN!" - and she did! :)
