Today we drove about fifteen miles from home to Huguenot Memorial Park. This has always been one of our favorite beaches to visit, it is so close to home and Ollie is allowed on the beach. You can also drive your car on the beach but you do have to watch out for high tides.
When we arrived today it must have been very high tide. We only had a small part of the beach to drive on. They also have a lot of areas roped off for all of the birds nesting near the dunes. We really enjoyed watching all the birds dive into the water for fish. We saw a lot of pelicans, terns, sandpipers and gulls.
Ollie loves the beach as much as we do, he enjoyed it much. We had a nice picnic and just relaxed. They also have camping but with zero hook-ups, not even water.
Huguenot is located right across the waterway from the Mayport Naval Station, so we also saw a lot of ships. The cost to visit is only $3. We are so fortunate to have great beaches so close to us. I am adding pictures and hope you enjoy much. More later from Jacksonville.
