Moving Right Along With Daisy 2017 travel blog

After Silver Sneakers class this morning, I took Carolyn to the post office and then we had lunch at Olive Garden restaurant. After lunch, we decided to visit the Mobile Loaves & Fishes’ Community First! Village in northeast Austin. It’s an amazing place. It is a 27-acre master planned community that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for the disabled, chronically homeless in Central Texas. The purpose is to provide a safe place for homeless people to live where they can restore their dignity and earn a modest wage.

All potential residents are required to complete the Coordinated Assessment Intake, provide fingerprints for FBI check, and agree to a criminal background check. To ensure that Community First! is addressing the problem of chronic homelessness in Austin, we will require potential residents to show proof of homelessness for at least one year within the Austin metropolitan area.
