On the Road Again. West Memphis, AR
Oct 31, 2010
|Awakening early on a travel day is nothing new to us. I was up at 4:00 and Marilyn followed me shortly after that. She started the coffee before she sat down and we were soon sipping our coffee together while talking quietly about the day ahead.
It was 7:35 when we pulled out of the campground, listening to our theme song, “On the Road Again”.
That must be considered the theme song for RV’ers everywhere. LOL
We breezed through St Louis on this Sunday morning and could see by looking at the GPS that we would arrive in Sikeston before noon.
We decided to continue on but had no idea where we might stop for the night.
I remembered that several of our friends had stayed at a campground across the Mississippi from Memphis, TN, so I suggested to Marilyn that she call Ginger & Jesse to ask for the address.
She had a nice visit with these good friends, who are now in Pueblo, CO, and wrote the needed address on a piece of paper.
We made a pit stop south of Sikeston, MO and I put the address of the Tom Sawyer Campground into the GPS.
We arrived in West Memphis, Arkansas about 2:30 and were parked in Site #96, with our large picture window facing the Mississippi River, about 100’ away from the back of our RV.
We were all set up shortly after being parked, and met the couple next door.
Mike & Pat, from Los Angeles, California, are very nice people and they invited us to sit and share a cold drink with them.
They were very interested in the full-timing lifestyle and they have traveled extensively, so we had a great time visiting with them.
This is a very nice place to stay, good neighbors, and near perfect weather, so we might stay an extra day.
We had a small mishap at dinner tonight.
Marilyn fixed spaghetti and meat sauce, then sprinkled parmesan cheese on top of it.
The problem came with the sprinkle of cheese, because the entire top came off and grated cheese was dumped in a large heap, on the spaghetti.
No problem after we scraped most of the cheese off. The meal was just fine and a nice ending to another wonderful day.
