There have been some changes in our lives. First change - we will not be spending our usual 2 months in AZ with RV friends. Second change - we will not be in Aransas Pass, TX in December. However, we will be in AP, TX January through March. Other changes have to do with some health issues Wes has.
He has had some difficulties with low energy levels, not being able to fend off colds, flu, etc, and just generally "wiped out". He would feel good for a couple of days and was able to accomplish a lot of work, then he would have zero energy for the next couple of days - and if he got cold, he would be sick. My nagging finally got to him and he agreed to see the doctor. Our doctor here in Tribune checked him over, ordered some tests and did a stress test. Most of the blood tests were normal, but his stress test showed some abnormalities, so he sent him to see a cardiac specialist at the DeBakey Heart Institute in Hays, Kansas. Dr. Ali, the cardiac specialist, wanted to do a heart catheterization to check for any blockage. On Tuesday, Nov 27, we drove to Hays and they did the procedure. It turns out he has some blockage in two areas, but neither serious enough for ballooning and stints or surgery. The doctor felt it could be controlled by medication and an improved diet. It was quite an ordeal, but Wes endured it well. I know, I know, this is just a little thing to a lot of you, but Wes has only been in a hospital once or twice in his whole life. It was a big thing for him.
Anyway, he didn't even have to stay overnight in the hospital. But, we did stay overnight in Hays - just in case... He is healing up very well, but is on restricted activity for a week and cannot drive for the next 2 days. Dr. Ali will see him again mid-December and he will need another stress test in the spring.
This will delay our planned trip to Texas in December. Actually we would already have been on our way. He still has some "heavy" work to do to the fifth wheel, as well as some work that needs to be done on the house before we can leave. Our kids have requested we stay "home for Christmas", so we will do that. We have decided to take it easy this winter and just stay in Texas for two or three months, fishing and relaxing instead of traveling so much. We will miss seeing all our friends in AZ and Q, but will plan to catch up with you this next summer at the Escapade in Wyoming or elsewhere.
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. We love and appreciate you all.
