Our predicted snow showers developed into a full blown blizzard, so we were forced to change our travel plans. About noon, we finally decided to delay our departure for Colorado until after the storm. We had a pretty good snow, several inches with lots of wind. At times visibility was pretty low. But we put the day to good use and did bookwork, got some extra rest, watched some TV and did computer work. It's amazing that our dish can pick up the satellite signals even in a snow storm. I am grateful each day that we took the time and expense to add Starband satellite to our RV and home. Even in the worst of conditions, we can usually get a signal.
In the midst of the storm, I caught one of the Flickers trying to get a drink from the frozen water dish. The wind was blowing his feathers every which way and I don't know how he could have kept his grip on the side of the dish. By the time I had my camera, he had flown (blown?) away. So, they are still around, just not making themselves very visible. At least they are no longer drilling everything full of holes!
Early this morning, I caught a couple of coyotes scouting out the windbreak. They are pretty healthy looking. I know they have been here before, just not out in the daylight like they were today. I grabbed my camera and shot some photos from the kitchen and bedroom windows as they looked for their breakfast. Can I just say one more time - I LOVE MY NEW CAMERA!! With my old camera, I would have had to get all bundled up, go outside and try to catch them before they ran off. Now, I can just stand at my window in my PJs and get great (well, at least good) pictures.
Later, I did go outside and get some shots of the drifts and shadows. Then we headed west toward Aurora and Dillon, Colorado. We were blessed with dry clear roads and great driving weather. We made a short stop at our daughter's house in Aurora, dropped off some stuff, made a pit stop, and played with their dogs. Then I dropped off my clothes at the cleaners. We filled up with fuel and grabbed a hamburger and headed on up the mountain. We got out of town ahead of the rush hour and arrived at the condo just as the next snow storm blew in.
We are looking forward to a relaxing week.
