Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

We slept poorly again but had a long drive today, so we were up and at ‘em by 4:30 and on the road right at 6:40 AM.

We stopped twice for fuel, food and bathroom stops.

Fighting fierce headwinds all the way, we averaged only 13.5 mpg in the truck. The 40 to 50 mph wind was a bit dangerous and we saw a semi tractor-trailer rig driving slowly on the interstate. He had his flashers on and the trailer weaved back and forth, sometimes seeming to go sideways down the highway. The temperature climbed above 50 degrees briefly but was only 49 here in Sioux Falls when we arrived.

With the wind at 41 mph it seemed much colder than that.

The trip took us 8 hours and 20 minutes total, including the stops.

Our Hotel room is quite comfortable and we drove a short distance to a “Texas Road House” for a steak dinner.

We hope to get things wrapped up here by 9:00 AM and head back to Hannibal.

Tomorrow we will baby sit again. Woo-Hoo!

Life is Good!
