I just checked our journal to see if any of you had left a comment or asked a question & noticed that I haven't posted anything since January 1st! This was unintentional for sure. Ever since I started sharing more on Facebook I've dropped the ball on this trip journal and I'm not sure why.
Facebook used to be the way I kept tabs on family members & friends, especially those in other areas of the country. Seems most folks don't mind sharing their lives on FB, all the way up to and including what they had for dinner & how they slept last night LOL! Staying in touch with nieces, nephews & cousins is especially fun. I began sharing more & more of our daily activities & that caused the readership number to drop significantly on this blog. I suppose it became easier to just share on FB, especially when we're not traveling the country & life is a bit boring. Not that our life is boring, we seem to keep ourselves quite busy!
So, today I will share a few pics taken in the last 3 weeks of some of our activities, like celebrating Larry's 75th birthday and Ashley's fun 'Star Wars' based baby shower. Also, our son Jim & his wife Paula are here visiting from Alaska & we got to get reacquainted with Jim's daughter Nicky & meet two granddaughters for the first time. We haven't seen Nicky since she was 5 years old & she is now in her 30's! Saturday we are celebrating two more family birthday's with a large gathering of family for homemade chicken & noodles, cake & ice cream. Our time here is going by quickly and we'll be moving on into Arizona & then New Mexico shortly. So if you're waiting for travel pics they'll be coming along soon.
I hope that you are all enjoying the first month of 2016! We've noticed that this is one of the coldest January's we've experienced in many years, although yesterday & today it has hit 60 degrees with mostly sunny skies. With all of the brutal weather folks are experiencing across this nation we certainly aren't complaining. I spoke with Mom yesterday & I understand it is VERY cold in Ely & they are experiencing plenty of snow these past few weeks. I really wish she had chosen to stay in California for a bit longer but understand her desire to be home with her kitty Mandy & her own bed. There is nothing like your own bed & to be in your own home for that matter! Right? Right!
