Today dawned as a very gray Friday. I was up at my usual time to meet several Cen-Tex friends at the home of Donette Harpole in Morgan’s Point for a Thanksgiving celebration. There were six of us in all: Val White, Betty Wendler, Larry Roming, Lynda Lenamon and I, plus our gracious hostess, Donette. We all contributed to the feast – and what a feast it was! We had turkey, pork loin, sweet potatoes, slaw, mashed potatoes, squash casserole, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, cornbread dressing (one pan with oysters), giblet gravy and four kinds of pie!
As I was driving in my car to Morgan’s Point (on Lake Belton), I ran into heavy rain at Round Rock. It rained on me all the way until right before I arrived at Donette’s house. At times the visibility was no more than about half a city block, but everyone slowed down during the heaviest downpours.
Lynda and I spent Friday night at Donette’s – Lynda in her new motorhome and I inside the house. We left Saturday about mid-morning so Donette would have time to get ready for her next feast at her son’s house.
