We woke to a beautiful morning on the Central Coast. By the time we got everything in the trailer ready to go & headed outside to hookup, the family had gathered to tell us goodbye - see you next year.

We had a good drive across the coastal mountains & the Cuyama Valley to the Central Valley. That's a dangerous highway but the traffic was pretty light & we had no problems. And it's a beautiful drive.

On across the Central Valley near Bakersfield - orange groves, nuts, stone fruit, oil pumpers - lots to look at on the way thru the valley. Then up the mountains to Tehachapi - the mountains are so green & beautiful.

We stopped to fuel before going to the rv park & getting set for the night. Took Callie on a long walk, had a nice sloppy joe dinner (seems to be our standard first night out meal) & a relaxing evening. It's so quiet here - we love this little rv park.

We'll try to get an early start in the morning to avoid any winds across the desert as we head for Las Vegas. More later...
