Our week in Busselton with Steve's cousin Karen, husband Ian and daughter Charlotte was better than we could have ever imagined. Karen met us at the bus station, first time Steve and Karen had seen each other in about eight years..and her reaction? You look older!

We were spoilt from the word go with a lovely little room that even had a kettle. It really felt like home. so much so that we decided to stay the whole week.

What a packed week we had.... Karen showed us two beautiful bays (Yallingup and Meelup), we had a picnic and were joined by a Kookabura on the branch above.

The highlight of the week was our sailing trip on Ian's boat. We took it from the Marina and sailed to the Jetty, where we saw Dolphins..we were so lucky cos they came right up to the boat and swam under the boat. Magical! On the way out we dropped some crab nets and were pleased to find a couple of edible blue manna crabs..yum yum. Ian cleaned the crab and we had them for tea!

One evening we all went beach fishing, Steve caught a 'Flathead' fish, which we ate along with the crabs!

We picked Charlotte up from School one day and were invited in by the teacher..she seemed to know all about us!

The area around Busselton is well known for its vineyards and on Thursday Karen took us wine tasting, which was followed by beer tasting, a chocolate factory and a sweet shop!!! We were ready to pop by the end of the day!

We ended the week with a visit to some great caves nearby with Ian and Charlotte and some of the local ice cream ..Simmos.

We so enjoyed our stay in Busselton because it was the first time in two months that we had stayed put for more than 3 days. We didn't realize just how much we had missed home comforts...silly things like doing the washing up, watching TV on a comfy sofa etc. Our hosts made us feel so welcome. It is also great because Steve is back in touch with his cousin.
