|Well as usual I am running behind again. It's been a week since I last posted so of course we're not sitting in Little America, WY any longer, lol! We pulled out last Wednesday morning after a good nights rest & arrived in Wendover, Utah around 4pm. Wendover actually has an East Wendover & a West Wendover. So one half of the town is in Utah & the other half is in Nevada. We chose to camp overnight on the Utah side as there is a Shell station there with a huge parking lot that has 'ShorePower' available for rv's & trucks. None of the truckers appear to be using it which makes me think they are not familiar with this service. Or maybe they don't even try because it seems to be a bit unreliable. Let me explain.
Shorepower Technologies is known best for its Truck Stop Electrification power service at over 1,800 parking spots at 62 U.S. locations, where long-haul trucks and refrigerated truck trailers can draw power from the grid rather than idle their engines when parked. Shorepower is also popular with RVs for charging batteries or staying overnight. Shorepower supplies standard 110v AC and 208v power. You can use any off-the-shelf electric appliance to make life on the road comfortable and convenient: heaters, coffeemakers, microwave ovens, hand-held vacuums, chargers, and power tools, etc. All for $1.00 per hour! And, if you call on their 800# they have a promotional code for free hours. When we signed up in June (no cost) they gave us our first 12 hours for free. Wednesday night there was a 5 hour free promotion going so we got the first 5 hours free & then added 10 hours to it. We 'turned it on' at 5pm after getting level & putting out our slides etc. & by adding the 10 hours (for $10) we had power until 8am without running our generator. Makes it nice for tv viewing, heat, coffee maker, blow dryer etc.
Anyway, you can look up all of their locations at ShorePower & I would call ahead of time to make sure there is actually power at your desired location. Sometimes there's not!
We arrived in Ely on Thursday around 2pm & Larry, Onyx & I were all SO glad to see Mom! I think she was happy we are here too! She looks great & is just as sharp as ever. All of the hours she spends on her computer everyday seem to be doing her a world of good, especially mentally. Sister Lori & her hubby Marion have visited a couple of times too & they are doing well also. We've been rearranging our 'stuff' & trying to thin it down again while it's not too cold. Oh my, I thought we were down to 'nothing' in storage but we still own a ton of 'stuff'. We really need to have another garage sale or donate a bunch. It's just that most of it is clothing & 'memories', like photos, cards & letters and old vhs tapes with family events from back in the good old days. I guess I need to get busy & move all of it onto DVD's before the tapes deteriorate so badly we lose it all.
Well, I guess I'll quit rambling for now & get busy. We're still on our 'healthy eating' plan & I need to go to the grocery store AGAIN for fresh organic produce! What a pain this is but I have to admit that we feel great & it feels good to know that we are diligently working on good health. We got the results back on Larry's last 'Cancer' test & his # is very low. Still there, but it's looking good. I think our protocol is working! We'll retest in 8 weeks & we believe it will be totally under control at that point. Thanks for all you comments & prayers & we'll see you on down the road. We're moving again on Sunday :)
