The Gate

Last one!

We had fun today visiting the city of Bangor. Bangor claims to be both the birthplace of the lumber industry and the birthplace of Paul Bunyan. A huge statue in the city reminds Bangorians of their connection to this mythic character.

Bangor's Paul Bunyan, "Reputed to be the largest statue of Paul Bunyan in the world," stands on a stone pedestal in front of the Bangor Civic Center in Bass Park. The statue is 31 feet high and weighs 3,700 pounds.

The statue was donated to Bangor in 1959, on Bangor's 125th anniversary. Stephen King made it popular when he brought it to life in the 1986 novel, "IT".

We also visited Stephen King's home. Talk about a scary place, it is creepy!! The house is huge, it is surrounded with a black fence with creepy spider webs and bats etc. It was exciting to see, but not a place to spend the night. :-) I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story.
