Wanderings and Side Trips travel blog

We arrived home late this afternoon. We are tired and ready for our own bed. We had a great time house-sitting and animal-sitting at our daughter's, but we were ready to be home.

We have decided that we are glad to be retired because it takes a lot of energy to feed and care for all those cows and horses. Oh - and the dog too:-) I don't know if we could do it full time anymore. Wes is energized and ready to get to work on his projects, but I just want to sleep for a couple of days. We'll see how things are tomorrow morning:-)

Sunny and Zoe arrived back in Denver on Sunday evening and then Sunny flew on home to Wichita on Monday. She is sooo tired. It will take a while for her to adjust to her time zone again. Frequent travelers tell us to allow one day for each hour difference in time zones. That means it will take her til Monday to get back to normal. We hear Zoe is sleeping at odd hours also. It was a great experience for them both, but we are glad to have them safe and sound at home again.

On the way home, I was thinking about how hard our kids work. Both our daughters hold down full time jobs and then work another full time job when they get home. Both of their husbands work hard too. When they finally have some time off, they just need to rest. I am so fortunate that I did not need to work full time. I have worked occasionally and spent a lot of my time in volunteer jobs, but that day-to-day, everyday JOB was not really part of my life. Today's world requires so much more just to make ends meet than it did when we were still working. I feel badly that they work so hard, but am grateful they are able to.

I am also very grateful to have the companion I do. He is Mr. FixIt! He has always been able to build, repair, maintain, etc. anything. When we visit the kids, they always have a list of things that he needs to do. He is happy to do the little repairs etc. that are needed. He also does that at home. I never have to worry about finding a repairman and getting things fixed or built. I am very fortunate:-)

PS: I have added some photos to the previous blogs. You may want to check them out.
