After many postponements, disagreeable weather conditions and other minor delays, we left the farm at 4am Saturday. We were finally ready to go on Friday and the wind was so strong and there were high wind warnings out so we decided to wait. The warnings were to continue into Saturday also. We set the alarm for 2am because that is when the winds seem the calmest in our area. We were dressed and checked out of our house and on the road at 4am. Wes needed a nap by the time we reached McPherson. I called our daughter, Sunny, and she met me for some errands and lunch while Wes slept. Sure enough, one hour later he was refreshed and rested and was good for the rest of the day. We just kept driving with the wind at our backs. We had a great trip. We made excellent time, found good fuel stops and finally stopped 16 hours and 600 miles later in McAlester, OK. Just 60 miles from our destination. We boondocked in the parking lot. This morning we grocery shopped, ate a good breakfast, fueled up and were on the road by 10am, arriving at our friends, Tom and Dianna's, just east of Antlers. After a break and a tour of their new RV home, we drove on 60 miles to Beaver's Bend State Park. Our friends, the Reeds and the Bryants were already there and had spaces saved for us. Our other friends from Missouri will join us tomorrow. We expect to be here for the next two weeks. It has been so long since we have seen any of this group and we have missed them!! We are looking forward to a good visit! This is a beautiful place. Be sure to check back for photos.
