Today's post continues on with our ride from the Wyoming state line to Rawlins, Wy traveling I-80 east. There were a couple of times when the traffic was down to one lane due to road construction. Wow, it must be an ongoing issue in this area as we have dealt with road work in this area for the past 5 years! It can be a bit tough as the semi's begin to back up, especially in steep inclines. Our rig handled it all well and we actually got 13+ MPG yesterday! We did have a bit of a tail wind though :)

Thunderstorms were all about as we approached our overnight destination making for cooler temps than normal for the area this time of year. I looked up last years blog & discovered we arrived in Casper, WY on June 12th so we're not running many days behind this year. Anyway, due to the lateness of the day & the cooler temps we decided to dry camp for the evening & get an early start in the morning. There is a new Wal-Mart in town so we checked it out but the parking area is small & was quite crowded, not only with shoppers but with trucks & RV's too. Apparently others had a similar idea for this evening. Three doors down was an out-of-business building with a perfect spot for us to back into, out of the way & secluded. We'd barely backed in when large raindrops began so we quickly gathered up our belongings & Onyx, running inside. Whew, that was close. Yep, lasted all of about three minutes!!!

The temp continued to drop, getting down to about 50, making for totally comfortable sleeping without running the generator at all. Love having our inverter system & solar panels. Even though we love to camp, we certainly do appreciate the 'electronic' age & enjoy our TV, computer 'stuff'...So, we did a bit of both before hitting the sack for the evening. As I mentioned in my earlier post, we traveled over 400+ miles which is about twice the distance we 'like' to travel in any one day.

Well, thanks for stopping by. Hope you enjoy the scenery along this portion of I-80. It was actually quite pretty with plenty to keep our attention. Of course we loves trains & pretty rock formations. Throw in a beautiful sky & I'm in heaven :)
