Larry & Lee Ann's Journey travel blog

It's a pretty day for a drive...

View to my left, shot out the left back window at 65...

This range has a strange optical illussion doesn't it!

It's so WHITE!

There are large piles in several places along our route...

Water on both sides, no illusion here!

Pretty rolling hills to my right...

Salt Lake City! What a nightmare, lol...

Finally out of the heavy traffic...

Love this patriotic property...

Echo Reservoir...

Pretty drive so far!

Doesn't this cloud look like a giant smoke ring?

See you on down the road in Wyoming tomorrow! Have a great...

Today we traveled over 400 miles, way further than we like to drive on any one day. We are trying to make up for the extra time spent in Vegas this year & temps are rising quickly as summer heads in full steam. I talked to Mom after we got settled in this evening & even Ely is over 90 degrees, almost unheard of at their 6500 foot elevation. Especially this early in the year. Sis says it's going to be a hot one since they pretty much had no winter this past year. We'll see I guess. Maybe she knows more than the Almanac, lol!

Thunderheads were all around us as we traveled I-80 east making for a very pretty drive. Man, it is one steep pull out of Salt Lake City! Now I remember why I dislike coming this way so much. The drive from the Nevada border at Wendover into Salt Lake is very flat with the salt flats running along both sides of the road. The speed limit is 80 which I also dislike very much. There are a ton of idiots out there as evidenced by yesterday's vehicle crashed on the side of the road. Truckers are dodging in & out of both lanes & we like to drive at 65 or less. It just doesn't feel very safe going any faster, especially if we were to blow a tire. So, forgive the pics today, all were taken at 65 mph, not always an easy task. But I do enjoy looking for pretty sights & 'things' to take photos of. Sure helps us 'relive' many special memories made in the last 9 years of RV'ing. And we don't plan to quit anytime soon! Lord willing of course :) Please stop by again soon to see some pretty shots taken in Wyoming today. Second half of today's drive through Utah & into Wyoming. We're stopping to have dinner with my aunt & uncle, cousins too I hope, before arriving in South Dakota on Thursday. Have a great evening :)
