I am going to digress a bit today back to Dead Horse Ranch State Park located in Cottonwood, Arizona. Since we began RV'ing in 2006 we've tried to visit this area every year during the spring. We spent just under two weeks there in March & really enjoyed ourselves again this year. It's such a pretty area & it's only about 20 miles away from Sedona. Our favorite diesel mechanic lives here as well so we try & get all of our annual truck maintenance done while in the area. This trip it was time for an oil & transmission change.

Bonnie & Larry and Stan & Phyllis joined us for 3 days of our stay & we had a great time. There were only two camping spaces available this year so Stan & Phyllis came in their motorhome & Bonnie & Larry stayed with them. Turned out that that was a godsend as they got a flat tire on their way home & they weren't pulling their trailer. Unfortunately their spare tire (doughnut) went flat too so they wound up calling for tow service into Kingman to purchase a new tire. It took them nearly 9 hours to get home, arghhhhhh. But they assured us they still had fun & they were glad they came. Felt so bad for them though :(

Saturday we spent the day exploring Sedona & Sunday we drove up the mountain to Jerome & visited the King's Gold Mine. We bbq'd & enjoyed a campfire every evening & just enjoyed each others company. I'm going to split the photos up into three posts because I took a ton, like usual. I'm enjoying my new Canon SX50 HS & especially like that I don't have to change from wide angle to telephoto lenses as I move about. It weighs considerably less than my Nikon D-5000 as well so works perfectly for certain shooting times. You might remember that I broke my red point & shoot Nikon when I slipped & fell while rock hounding with Brad & bonnie in Deming, NM a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, so far so good with the Canon.

I hope you enjoy the next few posts as I attempt to catch up on our March activities. The main reason I am doing so is that every year 'My Trip Journal' sends me a DVD with photos & copy of the preceding years blog which is important in case I should loose everything. We do back up our computers to external hard drives but have I mentioned that I take between 13,000-15,000 photos a year??? Yep, I know, that's crazy. But I can't help myself. I love reliving special times & that's how we do it. Many of our favorite pics are shared with you, so these annual DVD's capture a glimpse of our memories & are stored in a safe place. Maybe our great grandchildren while enjoy looking at them on down the road? I'd like to think so :)
