Cheezey & Lou go State-side travel blog

I wanted to put something about Steve panicking after seeing a fish...

Rooney's older brother.... ouch!

It's not an optical illusion, the surfboard is really that big!

We went back to the buffet today to try out the breakfast (rude not to really!).

The fruit selection was great, they grow pineapple and papayas here, so they are really fresh. They also had oatmeal.. sorry porridge, so I was happy.

We needed a good feed today as we'd planned to hire some boards for a few hours.

Back at the hotel we had to check out and back in with reception to extend our stay and we accidentally booked until Monday... oops (hee hee!)

We'd borrowed rash guards (long sleeve tops for surfing) on Monday but decided that we must get our own instead. We had already looked around and came out of Rip Curl with a nice big bag.

A quick change later and we were back on the beach, over to Steve....

Yes buffet breakfast, straight back into my Vegas stretchy waistband slacks for 4 courses.. fruit, cereal, eggs gammon hash's, pancakes.. may have to get an even longer board out today !

We had brought the video camera but only 1 credit and ID incase we fell victim to any opportune thieves while surfing, this became all too apparent as we laid our towels down 2 guys came from the sea to find their rucksack gone! They found it after a few minutes minus their wallet. So we hired 1 board and took turns with the camera and bag, $15 for an hour plus $5 for any additional hours. I went out first and caught a few tiddlers which was good for confidence and proved yesterday was no fluke, especially as todays board was a foot shorter and more fun. After half hour I swapped with Loo and she again took off like a pro to start, unfortunately her 4 stage pop system arose with tiredness which caused some over balance mistakes so we swapped back. My shoulders were already fried which made it a huge effort to get out to the good stuff, after a couple of swerved starts which flipped the board I caught a couple of long rides but didn't have the energy to get back out there. I paddled back and forth in the shallows for a bit but nothing was happening for me so we called it a day just under the 2 hour mark and chilled on the sand for a bit before heading back to the penthouse suite (18th floor).

A quick shower later we were back on the strip and chose the California Pizza Co for dinner. Rose was our very good 'server' and we enjoyed the best crab cakes ever followed by Pizza for me and miso salad for veg head.

We booked a car for tomorrow online to cruise up to the north shore and get out of Waikiki for a bit.

Steve
