We had missed seeing "The Color Purple" when we were in Chicago, so we were really happy when the Texas State Fair brought it in as the State Fair musical. We got matinee tickets so we could also attend the State Fair before the musical. We rode the TRE to Dallas and then got on a bus that took us to the State Fair. Next year, the State Fair will have a DART stop right there. It was so much better than driving and parking.
The State Fair is all about the food. We hadn't been for many years, so we had to sample all the new foods that had been introduced. We had fried truffles (so-so), fried banana splits (ok), chicken fried bacon (which won the taste test this year)

We saw as many of the exhibits as our feet would handle (or my feet since Jeff was in his wheelchair) then had a wonderful time at "The Color Purple." Afterward, we headed for the domino exhibit where they were about to topple a huge domino set up. I have always loved seeing these on TV, and it was really fun to see it live.
